He would have been old enough to serve in World War I. I have checked with the sexton at Evergreen Cemetery and the Dept. of Vital Statistics, regarding his death, and there is no William Wagner listed in deaths for Lake County. This is the only information I have on William Wagner. I THINK THIS WAS HENRY WILLIAM - NOTE--CHECK OUT THE 1900 CENSUS NOTE--John William Wagner was born in 1914-note the middle name; possibly William died by then, but again no records in Lake County. (William would have been born abt. 1898, this is when George Martin Wagner was born. I do not know if William existed, or if error by census enumerator). Immigration: Andrew Wagner applied for intention to become a citizen of the United States on March 5th, 1895, at the age of 23. He stated that he first arrived in the United States on June 8th, 1892 from Germany. On July 31st, 1899 M.H. Spillman signed the application for citizenship as a character witness. On that same day of July 31, 1899 Probate Judge C.D. Clurk authorized the applcation for citizenship. Ruth Sprowls has a copy of this application in her documents folder.
