Excerpt from local paper.

Disaster struck on August 19, 1924. Locomotive No. 2 ran away on Mt Nettle and crashed at Tyree's Mill Branch. The Engineer, Charlie Floyd, was killed instantly.
Shortly before the accident, he reportedly told his men, "We will be in Hell or Cornwall in fifteen minutes."

"Charlie Floyd, engineer on the train of the South River Lumber Company Railroad, was instantly killed yesterday evening about 4 o'clock in a wreck at Tyree's Mill at South Mountain. Elijah Smith, brakeman, had his arm broken and knee badly hurt. Three other trainmen saved themselves by jumping."

Note: Poor Charlie didn't make it to Cornwall..
