Rufus Junior Tyree, Sr.

County Native Was Retired Carpenter

Rufus Junior Tyree, Sr., 85, of Buena Vista, died Friday, October 3, 2003 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington.

Mr. Tyree was born on July 4, 1918 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Lee Harrison Tyree and Mary Elizabeth Tyree. He was a member of the Poplar Hill Presbyterian Church in Lexington and was a retired carpenter with W. W. Coffey.

He was preceded in death by a son, William E. Tyree. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Louise Falls Tyree of Buena Vista; six sons: Wayne L. Tyree of Vesuvius, Marshall E. Tyree, Rufus J. Tyree, Jr., both of Lexington, Donald L. Tyree of Dillsburg, PA, Gary D. Tyree of Stuarts Draft, Bradley S. Tyree of Buena Vista; one sister, Lillie Tyree Painter of Stuarts Draft; 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2003 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Grimm officating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington

Myrtle Louise Tyree
County Native Dies At Age 78
Myrtle Louise Tyree, 78, of Buena Vista, died Monday, August 2, 2004 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington.
Mrs. Tyree was born on September 25, 1925 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Harry Lee Falls and Alice Riley Falls.
She was a member of the Poplar Hill Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus J. Tyree and one son, William E. Tyree.
Mrs. Tyree is survived by six children: Wayne L. Tyree of Vesuvius; Marshall E. Tyree, Rufus J. Tyree, II, both of Lexington, and Donald L. Tyree of Dillsburg, PA; Gary D. Tyree of Stuarts Draft, Bradley S. Tyree of Buena Vista; one sister, Mary Virginia Myers of Lexington; 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington
