County Native Dies In West Virginia

Ruby Plogger Clark Floyd, 70, of Charles Town, West Virginia, formerly of Manassas, Virginia, died Tuesday, January 13, 2004 in the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Charles Town, West Virginia.

Mrs. Floyd was born on May 6, 1933 in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Homer Jackson Plogger and Cora Virginia Horn Plogger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Curtis Floyd, Sr. She was retired from Stonewall Jackson Hospital after over 20 years of service.

Mrs. Floyd is survived by one daughter, Sharon Palmer and husband, Stan; one son, Calvin Plogger and wife, Jayne; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and one special child, "Brendon."

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2004 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service with Rev. Justin Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista.

Nora Mae Mazingo Floyd, 77, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at home. She was born August 23, 1926 in Rockbridge County and was a daughter of the late Adam and Alice Mazingo. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jenny, son-in-law, John Bryant and granddaughter, Julie Parrish and former husband, James C. Floyd, Sr.

She is survived by seven daughters, Mary Ann Groah & husband Dale of Fairfield, Jeanne Parrish & husband Bobby of Elliston, Barbara Noel & husband Tony of Roanoke, Linda Bryant of Richmond, Sandra Parrish of Elliston, Angela (Chris) Hickson & husband Steven of Elliston, Sharon (Tee) Conner & husband Randy of Salem; one son, James C. Floyd, Jr. and wife Jo of Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law Norman R. Floyd, Jr. & wife Shirley of Mineral Ridge, OH; brother-in-law Hunter M. Floyd of Lexington. Also left behind are cousins & dear friends, Bessie and Curtis Rowsey, 26 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 10 nephews, and five nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 PM Sunday, November 30, 2003 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista.

Hunter Morris "Cotti" Floyd

County Native Dies At Age 68


Hunter Morris Floyd, 68, of Lexington, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.


Mr. Floyd was born on October 4, 1936 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Norman Riley Floyd and Bessie Jane Southers Floyd.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Fix Floyd; brothers: Fletcher Floyd, Charles “Will” Floyd, James “Curtis” Floyd, Sr. and sisters-in-law, Grace Slough and Nora Mae Floyd.


Mr. Floyd is survived by his children: Larry Stephen “Stevie” Floyd and wife Tressa, Deborah “Sue” Camden and husband Tommy, Melisssa Gayle “Missy” Edwards and husband Eddie, Wanda “Kay” Emore and husband Steve, Gary Lee Newell and wife Sharon, all of Lexington; grandchildren: amy Hostetter, Dawn Clark, April Higgins, Chris Floyd, Dustin ”Bub” Emore, Katelynne “Tudy” Emore, Tara Dix, Damon and Brandon Sensabaugh, Ashley Newell; great grandchildren: Justin Powell, Mikala Dix, Shaylee Floyd, Logan Higgins, Elexas Clark, Jordan Higgins; two step grandchildren: Stacey Wood and Nikki Rush and two step great grandchildren: Lyric and Jonas Rush; one brother, Norman R. Floyd, Jr. and wife Shirley of Mineral Ridge, OH; and a very, very special friend and honorary pallbearers, Eddie Higgins and one special unknown friend.


Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial will follow in the McElwee Chapel Cemetery in Bustleburg. Active pallbearers will be Macky Floyd, Mickey Smith, Greg Floyd, Jimmy Floyd, E. J. Higgins, and Nasser Bahhur.
