Know all men by these presents that we William Haywood,(3) Moses Haywood,(4) Thos Dunn & Jacob Lafiter are held and firmly bound unto the state of North Carolina in the sum of fifteen thousand dollars current money to be paid to the said State to which payment will and truly to be made we bind ourselves, or heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 24th day of January Anno Domini 1853.



The condition of the above obligation is such that where as the above . . . William Haywood & Moses Haywood have this day been appointed special administrators of the estate of Jesse Haywood, deceased by a special court held in the office of the clerk of the county court, and whereas the said William Haywood and Moses Haywood have been authorized to sell the crops of cotton, pork, corn, the stock of cattle, hogs & sheep and horses - and to take the . . .chattels and effects of the intestate in hand and to return a schedule of the same unto the next court of pleas and quarter superior - and therefore if the said William Haywood and Moses Haywood shall well and full discharge the duties . . . upon them and shall return a list of said sale made by . . . of this appointment unto the next county court together with a schedule of the . . . chattels and effects of the intestate, and shall deliver . . . and pay over to whomever the court may appoint administrator of or administrators all . . . money, property, goods, chattels and effects of the said intestate which may come unto their hands - then this obligation to be . . . otherwise to remain in full force & effect.
