Genealogy has always been an obsession for me. As a child I would listen to my Great-Grandfather "Popeye", tell me stories about his long and difficult search for our ancestors. He began working on our Family History in 1932, 40 years before my birth. There is still work to be done on that branch, and I am now the 4th generation to take on the task. On my Dad's "side of the tree", I have always been fascinated with the story of my great grandmother. How, when she was just a baby, her mother left her with a neighbor so she could go in town to the store. Her mother never came back, and a few years later her father died. According to her son, my grandpa, she never spoke of it, and no one in the family knows her name. Being a determined person, not to mention nosy, I have made it my goal to find out who she was, what happened, and also trace her ancestry. So far, not much luck.
