Last Rites Held for Jessie J. Hix
Friends were saddened last Friday morning upon the announcement that death had claimed Jessie J. Hix. Although ill for several months and little hopes had been held for his recovery, the news of his passing cast a
shadow over the community. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the First Baptist Church of which the deceased was a member. A beautiful floral array was evidence of the respect in which
Mr. Hix and his family was held in the community. A quartet composed of Mrs. Bunyan Paxton, Mrs. Dan Pickrell, Mrs. Leon Stansell, and Mrs. Dora Lou Williams sang two selections, " How Beautiful Heaven Must Be,"
and " Beyond the Sunset." As a solo Bunyan Paxton sang, "Sunrise Tomorrow." As his text, Rev. W. D. Baker chose Luke 20:36 which read " Neither can they died any more: for they are equal unto the angels, and
are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection." The minister said," The supreme tragedy in life is that men and women are born and many live to a ripe old age and go to their graves and into the great beyond without learning what life is for; but that the deceased had faith." A faith that was more than a dogma. Rev. Baker stated that faith lives and achieves and quoting from the scriptures said "Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall be upon their heads; they shell obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away."

Jessie J. Hix was born April 26, 1913, at Rivia, Oklahoma. He moved to ray at the age of eight. At the age of 19 he was married to Miss Fannie Davis and moved to Marlow where the family lived until coming to Tipton in 1925. Since coming to this area Mr. Hix engaged in farming and at the time he was taken ill was auto mechanic in charge of the buses for the Tipton Public School. Mr. Hix had a pleasing personality and made friends readily. He was a kind and good father and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife and five sons; Delbert, Jerry, Wesly, Troy and Jimmy all of the home address. Three sisters; Mrs. Mary Varner of Tipton, Mrs Minnie Potts of Artesia, New Mexico and Mrs Edna Wyatt of Duncan and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Junior Jennings, Woodrow Stewart, Robert Vernon, Ray Payne, and R. T. Petty. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Junior Jennings, Mrs Woodrow Stewart, Mrs Charles Edwards Jr., and Mrs Dora Lou Willaims.
Interment was in the Tipton cemetery.
