For in consideration of twelve hundred dollars to us in hand paid we have bargained & sold to Hugh Kirkpatrick a negro boy named Daniel about 17 years old we warrant the title of said boy to the said Hugh Kirkpatrick his heirs & assigns forever. Witness our hands & seals this the 10th day of December 1860. This Bill of Sale in lien of one we made said Hugh Kirkpatrick about two years ago for said boy which is misplaced.
