When Michael Pruitt's sons, Robet, Elisha and Joshua verified by personal exploration the reports of the beauty and fertility of Kenturcky, Michael moved from his home in Campbell Co.,VA with many members of his family and some neighboring southern Va. friends. The following of Michael's children and thier families eventually moved to the Blue Grass region of Fayette and Jessamine Counties in KY: Daniel and Judith (Pruitt) Mitchell; James and Elizabeth (Street) Pruitt; Elisha and Tabitha (Collins) Pruitt; Byrd and Sarah (Hurt) Pruitt; Joseph and Leah (Moss) Pruitt; Joshua and Sarah (Adams) Pruitt; and Richard and Elizabeth (Pruitt) Adams. Rachel Pruitt, who married Robert Shipley III, remained in Va., and Michael Pruitt, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Hurt, eventually moved to Bedford Co., TN. Robert Pruitt was left behind with a power-of-attorney to sell Michael's Va. holds and to settle his affairs there, after which Robert and his family moved to KY in 1794."
