I was born and raised in the Smoky Mountains and foot hills of the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina & South Carolina. My Ancestors are the Pioneers who settled the Carolinas: North Carolina Counties such as Anson, Caswell, Davie, Davidson, Rowan, Forsyth, Iredell, Surry. First Immigrating to Colonial Maryland,Pennsylvania & Virginia. *****My Genealogy research started with my Mother Sarah Braswell Foster's Parents families of Braswell & Ratliff in the North Carolina County of Anson where I was taken to family reunions as a child and visited family cemetaries in Anson County North Carolina. My Grandmother Susan Elizabeth Ratliff Braswell could go on for hours about family history.I was able to learn related families such as Degge/Diggs, Hinson/Henson, Jernigan, Dunn, Gulledge, Boyets, Keen, Pistole, and Travis. *****Later I developed an interest in family tree research & I was able to research my Father William L. Foster's Parents families of Foster and Minnick. I found my family tree was made up of related families Davis, Combs, Orrell, Markland, Zimmerman, Tucker, Rumbley and others who settled the North Carolina Forks of the Yadkin River at OLD Winston Salem-Clemmons in FORSYTH COUNTY and ajoining OLD ROWAN (NOW DAVIE AND DAVIDSON COUNTIES NC)after moving in from Colonial Maryland, Virginia & Pennsylvania. All these families moving to the Carolinas after first immigrating in th 1600s-1700s to Colonial Ports in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania from the British Isles and Germany. Pioneers who traveled in covered wagons. Homesteaders some stopping off for a generation in the Carolinas and then some moving farther South, South west and Northwest. My genealogy research includes my Wife's Family names of Franklin, Rice, Shelton, Wallin, Tweed and related families. My mother-in-law Ella Sue Franklin Rice inspired my Research. My Research reports are available on line here and @ my family reports to Ancestry.com,Rootsweb. See my links section. Researchers who have helped and inspired me are: ****Charles "Chuck" Foster a distant cousin whose research and report of "Descendants of William Foster Sr"FamilyTreeMaker.com report on line (a valuable resource). It was this report that I found who Grt Grt Grt Tilman Foster was and Fork Baptist Church. I refer you to Chucks report listed as aLink ). Since then I've exchanged e-mail with Chuck and others I found who are descendants of William Sr and his brothers. My line is William Sr thru his son Tilman who married Francis Tucker daughter of Andrew Tucker and Levice Rumbley; then Tilman's son John Murphy Foster who Married Comfort Ann Orrell Wood Grandaughter of Daniel Orrell. Next John and Ann's son Hiram Lindsey (Tump) Foster who married Sally V Markland daughter of Matthew Markland and Elizabeth Ann Zimmerman. Hiram Lindsey and Sallie's son Naylor Cary is my Grandfather and he married Etta Amellia Minnick daughter of William B. Minnick and Virgina Davis of Russell Co Va. My father William Lindsay Foster Sr is named William for Will Minnick & Lindsay for Hiram Lindsey *****Elizabeth Harris cordinator of the Davie County Web has helped me and others with leads for my Foster, Markland, and Zimmerman Families. The 1850 census project is great. *****Faye Moran's "Jarvis Family and related Families Report" Faye is a cousin of Elizabeth Harris & families she list there for the Old Salem and Wachovia area I found to be my ancestors. *****Braswell Genealogist and distant cousin Guy Braswell helped me develop and broaden my research for my Braswell Line.
