"Francis Pugh, merchant of Nansemond County [VA], who moved to North
Carolina, was justice of Chowan Precinct, 1731, and of Bertie Precinct,
1732, colonel of militia, commissioner for the Indian trade,1731, was
appointed to the North Carolina Council, 1734, and left will 5 July
1733-4 Oct 1736,..."
