Notes for Jo Ann Tompkins:

Dale Chaney letter to the editor after his wife's death - What a wonderful place to live one's life, but also a place of serenity, and peacefulness to depart this Earth from one paradise to another. Jo and I thought of our home here as such a place- I still do. I am sure as she looks back she still does too. Our church family serenading her outside her window and the few times she was able to join them in Sunday worship meant so much to her. My heartfelt thanks to all. We all are certainly lucky to have such loving and caring people in health care services in the Cumberland County area. She never suffered from any lack of support and dedication from all of those caring people who helped her bear the pain. Again thanks to all! Lastly we thank all of the many folks who helped me and my family bear our great loss with word of mouth, cards, prayer and hugs. A special thanks to Jim Nash who prayed and strengthened Jo's faith in Vanderbilt, life Care, Cumberland Medical Center and during her long stay on Lake Oxford. His eulogy for her reflected her life exactly. So the Chaneys and the Tompkins thank God it all happened here. God bless all who cared, and thanks again. Obituary- At about 10 o'clock this morning, Capt. J.F. Moore was instantly killed in an accident at the Bellaire steel works, and the entire community was shocked when word of the accident was circulated throughout the city. He was employed in the machine shops at the plant and stooped over to examine something about a planer, when he was struck in the head by a bracket, and his skull crushed like an egg shell, death was instantaneous. Capt. Moore was one of the most popular men in Bellaire, always meeting friends with a kindly and smiling greeting and was known to every one in the city, and the news of his death caused general sorrow. He was a man identified with public affairs and was a member of the City Council having been elected as a councilman-at-large. For ten years he has been Captain of Arlington Co. 92, U.R.K. of P. and to his efforts the acknowledged proficiency of this company is largely due. He was Chancellor Commander of Black Prince Lodge K. of P. and a Trustee of the grand Lodge of Ohio. He was also a member of Bellaire Lodge No. 267, F.&A.M. Capt. Moore was a member of the First M.E. church and his wife and three sons, Guy, Harry and John are bereft in the loss of a loving husband and a kind and devoted parent.
