RITES JULY 8 FOR KITTY GARDNER
Funeral services for Kittie Gardner, who died July 4 at the Rock Rapids hospital following a stroke, were held Tuesday, July 8, at the Lockwood Funeral home at 1:30. She was 68 years of age. Rev. B. A. Gann conducted the rites, with Lockwood's in charge. Burial was at Riverview cemetery. Kittie Gardner, daughter of Capt., W. W. and Emma C. Gardner, was born in Rock Rapids on January 9, 1884. Her father was a captain in the Civil War. The family was among the early settlers in this community. Capt. Gardner built a home here in 1882, and the family was prominent in the life of the community in business, social and church circles. Miss Gardner worked as a stenographer,and was proficient in her calling. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Nellie, and three brothers, Frank, Clint and Don. She is survived by one brother, Dan, one aunt by marriage, Mrs. W. P. Simar, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Myrtie Gardner
