LAND OF THE FIRST GERMAN COAST ALREADY OCCUPIED. THEY SOON MOVED ON INTO
THE SECOND GERMAN COAST AND BEGAN THE PARISH OF ST. JEAN-BAPTISTE DES
ALLEMANDS, PRESENT DAY ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH.
WITH THIS GROUP WE FIND CHRISTIAN JACOB, HIS WIFE, TWO SONS AND FOUR
DAUGHTERS, HE AND HIS FAMILY SAILED FROM ROCHEFORT, FRANCE, JULY 31,
1753, ON THE SHIP "CAMELEON" AND ARRIVED AT NEW ORLEANS ON SEPT. 8,
1753. CHRISTIAN JACOB SETTLED IN THE AREA OF PRESENT DAY ST. JOHN THE
BAPTIST PARISH KNOWN AS LAPLACE, IN THE SECTION KNOWN AS WOODLAND.

Jacob and his wife sailed from Rockfort, France, July 31, 1753 on the ship
"Cameleon". Arrived in New Orleans Sept 8, 1753 with his two sons and four
daughters. Settled in LaPlace in section known as Woodland.

MARIE LOUISE TRUDEL WAS BORN DEC. 26, 1709 IN L'ANGE-GARDIEN, QUEBEC,
CANADA. SHE WAS BAPTIZED ON DEC 27, 1709 AT L'ANGE-GARDIED CATHOLIC
CHURCH AS "MARIE LOUISE RTUDEL", DAUGHTER OF JEAN TRUDEL AND MARIE LOUISE
MATHIEU: HER SPONSORS WERE ANTOINE PARAN AND THERESE TRUDEL; TWO
DIFFERENT DATES ARE GIVEN FOR HER DEATH IN TANGUAY'S VOLUMES; MAY 28,
1754 IN VOL. 7, PGE 366; AND JULY 31, 1774 IN VOL. 3, PGE 514. SHE MOST
PROBABLY DIED ON THE LATER DATE OF 1774, SINCE NO PROOF OF A 1754 DEATH
COULD BE FOUND IN NOTRE DAME DE QUEBEC CHURCH RECORDS.
HER GRANDFATHER, JEAN TRUDEL(TRUDELLE) 1, WAS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL
COLONIST WHO IN 1655 SETTLED ON THE BEAUPRE COAST OF THE ST. LAWRENCE
RIVER AT L'ANGE-GARDIEN, AQUEBEC. A 1985 VISIT TO HIS OLD HOME SITE
INDICATED IT WAS WELL PRESERVED BY THE TRUDEL FAMILY AS A HISTORIC SITE.

who settled the Beaupre Coast of the St. Lawerence River at L'Ange Gardin,
