Note: Peter
and Jesse were apparently raised in the household of
Vincent M. Joiner after the death of their
parents.
Vincent Joiner
was married to ELLEN BOZEMAN, one of their
father's sisters.
Peter Henry and Jesse
received a DEED Gift of Land from Grandpa Peter Bozeman
in Darlington
in 1824 and the house
their father Meedy had built - and he also gave a
deed gift of land to Julius Joiner,
child
of Ellen and Vincent.
When the elder Peter
died in 1829, Uncle V. M. Joiner signed his
name
as a
witness along with Grandma Sarah's X
mark.
The family of
Vincent M. Joiner is found in Clarke County, AL in
1830-1850.
Peter
moved to MS
by 1839 and is listed there in 1850 and
became the famous Captain Peter Bozeman of the
Mississippi
Infantry.
The
mystery remains as to why Sarah and Peter named their
first born son Meedy. Perhaps it came from the
name Medeah
as
there was a Medea in the American Revolution and well
worth researching.

Even though Jesse
petitioned the court and got the Writ of Dower approved for
Martha, she has moved and living near other women about her
age, possibly her sisters, all from South Carolina and in same
district as John Hill. Her daughter Martha M. and sons,
Peter, and John T. are still in this household. Martha M.
married Norman Campbell, John married Nancy K. Hill and Peter
married Nancy Jane Anderson ( granddaughter of Elijah), while
Martha's son Meedy G married a widowed Rebecca Brewer and
adopted her children.
