William McDanial Pogue (b. February 14, 1846, d. November 18, 1918)

William McDanial Pogue (son of John W. Pogue and Louise O'Kelley) was born February 14, 1846 in Missouri, and died November 18, 1918 in Stella, Missouri, Newton County. He married Margaret Josphine Culp on June 16, 1867 in Stella, Missouri, daughter of Henry Culp and Ann Melcher.

One of the early businesses in Stella was the Pogue Garage. It was first started about 1910 by Frank Pierce Pogue, son of William and Margaret Pogue. The first building was painted red, was north of Jenks Flat and the cement platform still stands just north of the Lee Woolard property.

Uncle Pat pogue worked there at one time. Some time later, date unkown, another building was erected on what is now a part of the Cardwell Memorial Hospital. The brick used on the front of the building was from the old Waddil store.

Frank's sons, Onell, Jiggs and Orville, assisted their father in the business. Other mechanics were Ellis Pogue and Leland Carter. Mr. Pogue died in December 1962 and the business was continued by Jiggs and Orville.

Jiggs closed the garage in the early 1970's and the building was sold to Dr. Fountain and a part of the local hospital is now built on the site.
