William Stephens (son of Alexander Stephens) was born 1748, and died date unknown. He married Rachael.
Notes for William Stephens: William Stephens may have been married at Licking Creek In Bedford, PA. His wife's name was Rachael. After the war he returned to bedford where he lived until he moved to Union, Township, Fayette County, PA. wher he lived until 1807, when he moved to Belmont County, OH in the NW corner of the countyu. He died in Guernsey County, Oh and his will was probated at the Guernsey County OH court house at Cambridge, Ohio June 24, 1826. Will book A, page 194. "being of sound mind and feeble in body because of age I bequeath to my wife her dowry and to my youngest son, Hezekiah, the home plantation of 160 acres and to my second son, William, a farm of 105 acres" and all of his other children were provided for upon their marriages.
James Stephens was a politiacian and the Stephens family was not oly close friends of Henry Clay the statesman, but were also related to him, and he frequently stayed in the Stephens home when touring Guernsey County, OH.
William Stephens was born 1748 on the home farm. He moved to Brothers Balley Township in Bedford, PA and enlisted in the Bedford County Militia. ( Vol 5, series 6 of Penn, archives) (Emma Margaret Master Conner is his decendant and a member of the Daughters of the Revolution from his military service. National # 483-762, Oct. 18, 1961).
