State of South Carolina Know all men by these presents that we Roan Godbold James Jones & Fredk Jones are holden and firmly bound unto Thomas Harllee Esquire ordinary of Marion District in the full and just sum of one thousand Dollars money of the said State to be paid to the said Thomas Harllee Esquire ordinary or to his successors ordinaries of the said State to which payment well and truly to be made and done we hereby bind ourselves jointly and severally our several heirs Executors and administrators in the whole and for the whole firmly by these presents sealed with our Seals and dated the first Day of October anno Domini 1810 and in the thirty fifth year of American Independence.
The condition of this obligation is Such that if the above bound Roan Godbold do and shall carefully and handsomely bring up Martha Godbold and Kitsey Godbold during their minority and manage with necessary meat Drink washing lodging apparel and learning according to their Degrees and during the time the said Roan Godbold shall be guardian and tutor unto the said Martha & Kitsey Godbold defend them from hurt of body loss of goods and lands so far as in his power laith and such portions as shall fall due unto said Martha & Kitsey Godbold of the goods and chattels of any persons whatsoever according to the inventory thereof or by any other ways whatsoever shall * and pay unto the said when they shall come to the age to receive the same by law and if it happen that the said Martha or Kitsey Godbold shall die before that time then if the said Roan Godbold do contract and pay the portion of and other rights of the said Martha & Kitsey Godbold * * * the law shall appoint the same to be paid or who by proximity of Blood ought to have it and shall also under a true and perfect account upon the tuition to him granted when these unto required and also have and keep harmless the above named Thomas Harllee for or by reason of granting said Letter of Guardianship that then the above obligation Do be * and be of no * or else to remain in full force and *.
