Updated February 17, 2012

About Our Family Research

RESEARCH:

PRESENT DAY BACK TO APPROX. 1750.

THE EARLIEST CONFIRMED ANCESTORS WERE ANDREW GRAHAM OF CASEY CO. KENTUCKY AND HIS FATHER JAMES OF SCOTLAND AND VIRGINIA.

THE GRAHAM FAMILY CAN BE TRACED BACK TO SCOTLAND, PROBABLY BY WAY OF IRELAND. THE PRIMARY CLAN LOCATION WAS IN WHAT IS NOW PERTHSHIRE CO. SCOTLAND U.K. AND THE BORDERS REGION.

OUR GRAHAM FAMILY PROBABLY WERE SCOTS-IRISH.

MOST SCOTS-IRISH IMMIGRANTS CAME THROUGH
VIRGINIA FROM PENNSYLVANIA AND THEN INTO WHAT WOULD BECOME KENTUCKY AND THE CAROLINA COLONIES. THEY CAME TO KENTUCKY BY WAY OF THE GREAT WILDERNESS ROAD THROUGH THE CUMBERLAND GAP WHICH TURNED NORTH INTO THE CENTRAL AREA OF KENTUCKY MANY SETTLED IN COMMUNITIES ON OR NEAR THIS ROUGH ROAD.
THEY USUALLY TRAVELED IN FAMILY GROUPS SETTLING ALONG THE WAY AS THEY FOUND LAND.
FAMILIES OFTEN MOVED MANY TIMES LOOKING FOR A BETTER PLACE.

JAMES GRAHAM , ANDREW'S FATHER WAS PROBABLY FROM SCOTLAND OR IRELAND (FAMILY HISTORY) AND WOULD HAVE SETTLED IN KENTUCKY IN THE MIDDLE TO LATE 1700'S.

ANDREW & LUCINDA GRAHAM LIVED IN CASEY CO.
(SO. CENTRAL) KENTUCKY AROUND 1800 (DOCUMENTED).
RECORDS INDICATE THEY HAD 4 CHILDREN JAMES JESSE BENJAMIN FRANKLIN AND POLLY.
ANDREW DIED IN 1813. LUCINDA (CINDA) MOVED TO LAWRENCE CO. KENTUCKY AND MARRIED A JAMES WHITE THEY HAD 3 MORE CHILDREN.

LUCINDA SINDERELLA HYLTON GRAHAM'S ANCESTERS CAME MOSTLY FROM ENGLAND. THEY CAN BE TRACED BACK TO THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE COLONIZATION OF VIRGINIA AND OTHER COLONIES. SEVERAL WERE FAMOUS, WE CAN EVEN COUNT PRESIDENT WASHINGTON AS A DISTANT RELATIVE.

ANDREW'S SON BENJAMIN LIVED NEAR LUISA, KENTUCKY
(NEAR THE EASTERN BORDER) BEFORE AND AFTER THE CIVIL WAR.

BENJAMIN AND AT LEAST 3 OF THE SONS FOUGHT FOR THE UNION DURING THE WAR.

SEVERAL OF BENJAMIN'S SONS MOVED WEST AFTER THE CIVILWAR.

ANDREW FAILON GRAHAM WAS AMONG THOSE WHO MOVED WEST.

HE HAD MARRIED A WAR BUDDY'S WIDOW
SARAH J. ADKINS.

HE AND SARAH LIVED IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS
(WEST PLAINS, MO. AND AROUND MULBERRY, AR ) BEFORE SETTLING NEAR BEE BRANCH, ARKANSAS.

EUGENE MORTON (MOTE) HIS SON WAS A CONSTABLE AND FARMER IN THAT AREA IN THE EARLY 1900S.
THE GRAHAMS SETTLED WEST OF BEE BRANCH AND MANY STILL LIVE THERE TODAY.
