James French Strother (son of George French Strother and Sarah Green Williams) was born 04 Sep 1811 in Culpeper Co., VA, and died 20 Sep 1860.

James French Strother, b. at Culpeper C. H. Sep 4, 1811, d. Sept. 20, 1860; m. Nov. 2, 1832, Elizabeth Roberts, daughter of John Roberts, of Culpeper, who was commissioned major in Revolutionary War March 5, 1779. He was a member of the VA Assembly, member of the Constitutional Convention of 1850, and in Congress 1851-53. He was a lawyer; a citizen of character, and universally esteemed. His widow is still alive (1898), over eighty years of age. Children: 1. George F. Strother, dsp; 2. John Roberts, m. ------- Payne; 3. James French, m. --------- Botts; 4. William, dsp; 5. Judge Philip Williams, distinguished lawyer of Pearisburg, Va., m. Nannie Strother, daughter of Col. A. G. Pendleton; 6. Sallie Williams; 7. John Hunt; 8. W. Johnson. m. -------- Shackleford; 9. Lewis Harvie; and 10. Charles, dsp (Owen, William Strother of VA, 1898, p. 25).
