Jonathan Parker was the captain of the Duplin County Militia during the Revolutionary war. He lived on the banks of Six Runs Creek in Duplin County, N.C. He was fairly prominent in county court and malitia affairs. A land survey of 1774 contains a description of his plantation, It states that there were 500 acres On Six Runs Creek, Near Turkey, N.C., in Sampson County, N.C. Sampson County was created from part of Duplin County, and Jonathan played a part in the creation of this county.
