1863 map of Hill homes near Sparta

Core of Engineers made this map in 1863 during the Civil War and noted the homes of various residents of White County. Included in the southern part of the county were the homes of the Hill family, particularly Widow Hill, (Elizabeth Hill), widow of Joab Hill, mother of William Ransom Hill, who was off to war at this time.
