            LESLIE VERNON BOWMAN

      Services for Leslie Vernon Bowman, 55, of 5711 Richard Ave. will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Hixson Bros. with the Rev. Jerry Means officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Chapel Cemetery, Williana.
      Bowman died at 4:30 Saturday in St. Luke's Hospital, Houston.
      Bowman was a native of Pensacola, Fla., the owner-operator of American Key and Lock Co. and part owner of American Safe and Security Co. He was a member of the Associated Locksmiths of America, the Mis-Lou Locksmith Association and the Alexandria-Pineville Chamber of Commerce.
      Bowman was also a Mason holding membership in Alexandria Lodge No. 398 F&AM, the Shreveport Consistory, the Trinity Commandery, the El Karubah Temple, the El Karubah Shrine Band and the Cenla Shrine Club.
      Survivors include his wife, Barbara McCracken Bowman of Alexandria; one son, John Henry Bowman of Alexandria; one daughter, Dorothy Nichola Bowman of Alexandria; three brothers, Horace Bowman of Alexandria, Howard Bowman of North Carolina and Jesse Bowman of New Mexico; and four sisters, Viola Criswell of Olney, Texas, Vera Arrington of Sulphur, Sarah Hand of Pineville and Mildred Dugan of Texas.
      Friends may call after 4 p.m. today in the funeral home.

MRS. CLARA C. SMITH

      Mrs. Clara Creed Smith, 86, of Alexandria died at 11:50 p. m. Thursday in St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. She was a native of Grant Parish.
      Survivors include one son, Otho Smith of Alexandria; one daughter, Mrs. Sybil Phillips of Winnfield; one brother, Linnis Creed of Williana; one sister, Mrs. George Hart of Pineville, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
      Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Hixson Bros., with Rev. Jack Winegeart officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park."
