We are a large family, emanating mostly from Europe before, during and after the Second World War. We are now scattered across the world and I am trying to create an awareness of family with the hope that with time, family will mean something solid and worthwhile. These are the first attempts to accomplish this.

  During the last 10 years of his life, my father Andrew Hargrave wrote out his experiences in Hungary and in particular, those in relation to his family and more particularly about the relationship with his father, Alfred Hajos, architect and olympic swimming champion. This is the first chapter.
