Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I first started to search for my family in 1977 but never really got into it as was young and not interested in it then. Later when entered Army not around Georgia and so lost contact with many of the cousins who I knew growing up.
The last Harrell reunion I remember attending was in 1978 with both my parents present. My dad passed in 1981 and it was not until 1998 that I started again to attend the reunion with my mom and two sisters. My mom passed in MAY 2000 just weeks before the reunion which I attended alone.
The Harrell Family Reunion is held at Sharon Baptist Church in Telfair County Georgia on HWY117 between Rhine and Jacksonville, and is in honor of William Lewis Harrell born 1832 died 1913, who rests in the cemetery and those attending descend from. He is my Great Grand Father who wed Harriett Willcox born 1849 died 1883 and is resting in Willcox Family Cemetery near Sharon.. This reunion is held in May on 3rd or 4th Sunday of month.
After the death of my mom I started looking for living members of my family in hopes of learning from them more about the family and it's history. If you see in the tree I've posted to this site any of your folks and thus find a link to me please email me as I'd enjoy sharing info on our common family members with a distant or even near cousin. Currently have made contact with several in the year since my mom passing and hope to continue to meet more.
I've added a few links to which have helped me find new info on my many family brances and from time to time will be adding more as I find them. Most of what will add will be in report form as site limited to only one family tree and to post one with all branches would be too large to run so if you have questions feel free to email me and will try to either answer you direct or sort things around to get a report for you up on site.....Wayne
The MAY 2001 Harrell Family Reunion at Sharon is over and attendance was small. Most of those present were descendents of George Lafayette Harrell son of William Lewis Harrell, and brother to my GDad, Charles Wright Harrell. Took a lot of photos of the Sharon Church Cemetery but was busy trying to get info into computer on folks so missed out on photos of them. Also have photos of some other cemetery in area which will try to get up on a site some time soon....Wayne
Since I've added info on cemetery in GA onto another site I'll be using this one to add some photos of cemetery in SC which I've visited and have some grave shoots which can pass on or will be adding to FindAGrave as time allows and I get my lazy side in gear to do it. The photos here will cover views in arond SC cemetery so you may get idea of what it looks like and were it is. Thus do a search for cemetery by the name and see who been added to it. Right now have some Delk, Armstrong, Brabham, Bamberg, and other names to add to Restland near Main St United Methodist Church but waiting for folks FindAGrave to let me know if cemetery listed by other name than I saw on gate sign, as not listed in city or by church....WAH/20/07/2001

MY ANCESTORS (63 KB) This is a report of my ancestors going back to
FRANCIS HARRELL of Nansemond County Virginia as early as 1734 and moving south through North and South Carolina into Georgia about 1808.
Most of the info is based on text from Burch Harrell Allied Family Books by Marilu Smallwood or from History of Telfair County Georgis 1807 to 1987. Also have over time gotten info from a number of living family members and added it in. Any use of this info is okay with me as long as you keep in mind that not all the info here is verified as fact, those dates listed as about, before, after, between, should not be passed on as fact since this creates errors for folks later getting the info.
Any questions on person in this report should be directed to me as I'll try my best to confirm info with you so as to avoid later errors in reporting of this info around the Internet.Wayne
FTM John Austin Harrell Descendents (2 KB) His parents are Asa Harrell and Elizabeth Keen and Asa is brother to Levi Harrell, II or JR.
His spouse parent are Horton Hendley and Mary Daniels, Horton Hendley is brother to Sophia Hendley who wed William Holt Harrell a son of Levi Harrell, II or JR.
There are other links to the William Hendley line in this time period to other cousins or siblings of Harrells. Many lived in around Pulaski Co Ga which includes Laurens Telfair Dodge, either cut into Pulaski or from it at some point in Georgia's pie slicing the State into current 159 couties as they got lands from native Americans around 1800 or earlier.
This is link to listing GA Counties and how they formed:
Many of the couties near AL possibly formed from lands once part of Georgia or the same native Americans who lived here so might want to check your AL history to see how the State divided into it's county and may find some folks went to bed in GA and woke up in AL due to reline of State borders at some point.
