FIRST  MILLSTADT  BOY  A  CASUALTY

[copied by Robert Buecher from the Millstadt ENTERPRISE, November 28, 1918; page 1]

Frank Leingang is the first Millstadt boy who has made the supreme sacrifice.  Mr. and Mrs. Henry Leingang, well-known farmers east of town received an official telegram yesterday afternoon informing them of the death of their son overseas.  He died of pneumonia somewhere in France on October 19, 1918.

Frank left here on May 25th for Camp Shelby, Miss., where he was stationed until some time in October when he was transferred overseas, his folks received a card only a short time ago that he had arrived safely.

Frank Leingang was born in Millstadt township on September 30, 1891 and reached the age of 27 years, 1 month and 19 days.  He spent his boyhood days at home but later worked as carpenter in the city.  When war broke out he worked at his trade in cantonment construction and after this work gave out he came home until he was called.

He leaves his aged parents, five brothers and three sisters.  They are: Henry, Alphonse, William, Aurelius, Charles, Mary, Rose, wife of Tony Ehrstein and Barbara.

The parents, brothers and sisters have the profound sympathy of the entire community.
