Marriage Notes for J
AMES RICHEY and ELIZABETH RICHEY:
There is a James Richey who married Matilda Nutterfee, 25 Nov 1820, in Shelby Co., but this date does not coincide with Anderson's birth. There is also a James Richey who married Elizabeth Ritchey 17 Dec 1818, Nicholas Co., KY and this date would fit with Anderson's birth and birthplace. William Leonard was appointed guardian of James' children.

Shelby County Kentucky October Court 1822, pg. 193: "Ordered that Isaac Pearson be appointed Guardian to Anderson Richey and Eliza Richey infant orphans of James Richey dec'd. who thereupon entered into bond with Francis Davis and Robert Richey his securities in the penalty of $150 conditioned as the law directs."

Spencer Co. KY Order Book A, pgs. 78,79 & 80, 14 Mar 1825: "This day Isaac Pierson guardian to Anderson Richey and Eliza Richey infant orphans of James Richey dec'd. came into court and surrendered his guardianship of the said infants and thereupon it is ordered that William Leonard be appointed guardian to Anderson Richey and Eliza Richey infant orphans of said James Richey dec'd. whereupon the said William Leonard came into court and together with Robert Richey his security and executed and acknowledged bond in the penalty of $300 conditioned to secure the said orphans estate."

Gilbert Griffin, a native of Spencer County, Ky., was born November 15, 1833. His father, WILLIAM GRIFFIN, was also born in Spencer County, December 19, 1801, and was married to Miss Catherine Ritchey, April 7, 1823, and had born to them six children, the subject of this sketch being the fifth. William Griffin removed to Bullitt County, Ky., and settled on a farm in 1842....(source: Kentucky: A History of the State, Perrin, Battle, Kniffin, 8th ed., 1888)

In the 1830 census for Spencer Co., KY, pg. 322, there are ten individuals in the William Griffin household. Two would be William and Catherine. Their son Gilbert was born 1833 and since he was their fifth child that would mean in 1830 William and Catherine should have four children. The extra four would be the children of Catherine by her marriage to Isaac.
