Notes for JAMES RAYMOND HICKS, JR:
Jim was born and raised in Carbondale, PA, graduating from Carbondale Area High School, PA, in 1977. Jim then joined the Army enlisting for the 2/75th Airborne Rangers in Fort Lewis, WA. He completed Basic Training at Fort Dix, NJ, AIT and Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA and was assigned to the Weapons Platoon of Bravo Company 2/75 by the end of 1977 and earned his Ranger Tab in class 2-80. In 1983 Jim was the Platoon Sergeant for that same Weapons Platoon (WEBCO) when the Rangers were activated for an operation into Grenada and he was one of the 250 Rangers that parachuted onto the Island. Jim ETS'd from the Rangers in February, 1985, and returned to Carbondale to attend college at the Northeast Institute of Education in Scranton, PA.
