1. NATHANIEL G¹ CARTER was born Abt. 1770 in North Carolina. He married (2) KESEAH H JOHNSON January 11, 1816 in Wilson Co, TN. She was born Abt. 1790.

..."Nathaniel R Carter, who was captured by the Delaware Indians in Pennsylvania during the Lackawanna massacre, at which time all of his family were killed. His life, however, was saved and he was brought to the west, where he was reared by the Cherokees. Later he was sent to Cornwall, Pennsylvania, to attend school, and after completing his education he returned to the Indians and married a Cherokee lady, spending the residue of his life in the Cherokee nation."
