She was born Abt. 1843. He married (2) SUSIE ELLEN DANIEL June 03, 1874, daughter of JOHN DANIEL and MARTHA MARTIN. She was born June 26, 1857, and died Aft. 1902.

306. WILLIAM PENN⁵ BECK (SALLIE⁴ DOWNING, WILLIAM³, JOHN², JOHN¹) was born May 04, 1849, and died May 19, 1887. He married HANNAH MARTIN Bef. 1880, daughter of SAMUEL MARTIN and MARY MCLAUGHLIN. She was born 1857, and died Abt. 1898.

William Penn Beck (Grant 1-1-1-5-5-2-5, Grant 1-1-1-5-7-2-5) & Hannah McLaughlin [Martin] (Grant 1-1-1-3-1-1-1 & Grant 1-1-1-4-1-1-1); in these compilations Dr Starr shows William, the son of Ezekiel Beck, as marrying Hannah McLaughlin [Martin] who is the daughter of Samuel Martin & Mary McLaughlin; however, census rolls show that this Wiliam Penn Beck was born circa 1873 and Hannah is on the 1880 census with her 32 year old husband William Beck. The correct husband for Hannah appears to be a different William Penn Beck, the son of Jeffrey Beck and Sarah Downing (Grant 1-1-1-5-5). Dr Starr does not show Jeffrey as having a son named William.

Cherokee Advocate, Book Three, Mar 10, 1880 - Jun 15, 1883;
"The preliminary trial of the persons charged with the murder of John Still and Jess Love was to come off last Monday but was postponed. The parties charged are James Downing, Sr., James Downing, Jr., Mack Downing, Joe Vann, John Gonzales, known as Johnny Mexican, and G W Taylor, six in number. The trial will undoubtedly attract much attention as the principals on both sides are prominently known in the Nation. James Downing and his son, Mack, were both wounded during the fight in which the two men were killed, and the elder Downing is still in a critical condition.
