The Brainerd Journal, p 348;
04/03/1823: An invitation having been previously given to all the mission family to attend a wedding at Mr D[aniel] Ross's, as many as conveniently could went over - found a respectable number of guests assembled and witnessed the marriage of Mr Elijah Hicks to Miss Margaret Ross, daughter of Mr D Ross - after which about fifty persons partook of an excellent wedding feast. We never demand a marriage fee but Mr Hicks politely presented to Mr Hoyt nine silver dollars which were accepted as a donation.
