Services for Avery Allen were held at Lusk Chapel, Madison County, NC. Burial was in the Woody Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eugene Plemmons, Charles Ray Allen, Albert Allen, Melvin Allen, Kenneth Brown and Furman Donaldson. A native of Haywood County he was a logger and the son of the late Taylor and Lettie Clark Allen. He is survived by his wife Wilma Case Allen, daughters Mrs. Jimmy Moore and Mrs. Ray Trantham of Hot Springs, NC, Mrs. James B. Donaldson of Waynesville, Mrs. Frank Davis of Candler, sister Tilda Brown of Waynesville, brothers Reeves, Melvin and Franklin Allen of Waynesville and Emory Allen of Newport News, Virginia, step mother, Mrs. Grady Coward of Hot Springs, half brothers Raymond and Roger Allen of Asheville, NC, and John Allen of Clyde, half sisters Lucille Medford of Marshall, NC, Debbie Norton of Asheville, Lorena Allen and Elaine Rogers of Hot Springs.

Tilda Mae Allen Gibson, 72, of 130 Nelson Park Drive, Waynesville, died Wednesday, Sept 4, 1996 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Taylor and Lettie Clark Allen. She was retired from American Enka with 28 years and had also worked for Turner and Son of Waynesville. She was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Brown, who died in 1975, son Jerry Brown, brothers Avery and Franklin Allen and sister Louise Allen. Surviving are her husband, Jerry Bob Gibson; two sons JB Brown of Canton and David Kenneth Brown of Clyde; one stepson, Bobby Gibson of Bethel; one stepdaughter, Helen Jean Revis of Bethel; six brothers Reeves Allen of Waynesville, Melvin Allen of Hemphill, Emery Allen of Virginia, John Allen of Fines Creek, Raymond Allen of Asheville, and Roger Allen of Hendersonville; six sisters, Lucille Cardova, Lorena Naillon, Debbie Hensley, Elaine Rogers, Brenda Briggs and Patty Willett; stepmother, Elva Coward of Spring Creek; six grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Services were held at 2 PM Friday in the Chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The Revs TM Gibson and Jimmy Moore officiated. Burial was in Thad Rogers Cemetery, Fines Creek. Pallbearers were Barry Sutton, Lane Sisk, Scott Welch, Gary, Albert, Roger and Ronald Allen, David Brown and Luke Gibson.

44. FRANKLIN HARLEY⁵ ALLEN (LETTIE MAE⁴ CLARK, MELVIN C.³, NANCY AGNES² JUSTICE, WILLIAM G. "CUBBY"¹) was born August 06, 1931 in Haywood Co., NC, and died May 24, 1995 in Buncombe Co., NC. He married JOSEPHINE LEWIS.

Franklin H. Allen, 64, died Wednesday, May 24, 1995, at Memorial Mission Hospital (Buncombe Co., NC). A native of Waynesville, he was the son of the late Robert and Lettie Mae Clark Allen. He worked at Britt Tilson in Asheville until retiring in 1993, and was a member of Arden Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Josephine Lewis Allen; two daughters, Dianne Allen of Asheville, and Debbie Allen of Miami, Florida; two sons, David and Jerry Allen, both of Coral Gables, Fla; four stepsons, John, Richard and Harold Baldwin, all of Fletcher, and JC Baldwin of Swannanoa; three brothers, Reeves and Melvin Allen, both of Waynesville, and Emory Allen of Mathews, Virginia; one sister, Tilda Gibson of Waynesville; several half brothers and sisters; and three grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 PM Saturday at Arden Missionary Baptist Church. The Revs. Jimmy Taylor and Randy Eubanks will officiate. Interment will be in Thad Rogers Cemetery in Fines Creek. The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the church. Thomas Shepherd and Son Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

45. WILLIAM CLAUDE "PETE"⁵ HILL, JR. (WILLIAM CLAUDE⁴, MARY ELIZABETH³ CLARK, NANCY AGNES² JUSTICE, WILLIAM G. "CUBBY"¹) was born May 21, 1929 in Haywood Co., NC, and died August 11, 1983 in Haywood Co., NC. He married MARGARET ANN GARNER December 26, 1948 in Rabun Co., GA.

Claude "Pete" Hill, Jr., 54, of Rt. 1 Saunook Road died Thursday (8/11/83) in Haywood County Hospital. A native of Haywood County he was a son of Claude William and Carolyn Elizabeth Arrington Hill of Waynesville. He was a former employee of Unagusta Manufacturing Company of Hazelwood and Forest Products Inc., Morristown, TN. Surviving, in addition to the parents are three sons, Larry Hill of Wilmington, Bobby and Joey Hill of Waynesville, a daughter Becky Yarski of Waynesville, two brothers Herbert Stevens of Waynesville and Robert Arrington of Newport News, VA., two sisters Katherine McCracken and Juanita Cable of Waynesville, and three grandchildren. Services will be at 2PM Saturday (8/13/83) in the Chapel of Garrett Funeral Hoome with the Rev. Virgil Holloway officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Claude Rogers, Roger Aldredge, Johnny Albert and Bud Arrington, Jim Oliver and Bill and Jim Stevens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9PM Friday at the funeral home.

He was born April 25, 1927 in Haywood Co., NC, and died June 27, 1978 in Haywood Co., NC.
