Cochran, Jacob, said his ancestors came from Scotland. His headstone has
a star emblem on it and I might guess he was in some organization or law enforcement, not sure what else
it means. Also heard the stone was made of zinc and could have
been made in Iowa.
Then we go back into the 1700s and 1600s
Millers came from Ireland, where Reverend Alexander Miller
is found in Rockingham Virginia, Cooks Creek cemetery,
and Charles Weatherford is found in Charlotte VA in the 1810 census just one year
before his daughter married John C Wright. Near Charles Weatherford is Patsy Weatherford with
children and she could be the Polly Jones Weatherford that we have
been looking for. Of course this Charles we see could be Patsy's son since she appears as the head
of her household. ahem !! why not name a son after your spouse!
Several other family names were in Pennsylvania Quaker
areas, New York Indian County, Rhode Island and Massachusetts
and they all ended up in Ohio
and Kentucky around 1800. They began to move west
and some served in the wars and some searched for gold. Jacob
Cochran apparently became a Miner and apple
farmer in Kansas and he was the first homesteader there in Hill
City.
Charles McClain married Elizabeth Moon in VA and they
moved into the Carolinas and we find them on the Spartanburg SC
census.
John Fann of England married Mary Stone in VA and their
children moved south as some were Indian Traders.
John Stephens came from Florida to the Carolinas to fight
in the Rev War
and married A full blood Cherokee, before coming to
Alabama. His son John settled in Ramer Alabama.
Captain George
Little of Scotland was in the American Revolution in South
Carolina and went to Kentucky about 1800. His
son Jonas Little married Betsy Douglas and had Hiram
Lucius Little, father of our John
Wright Little.
John Little married Catherine Crigler and they had Lattie
Cedonia Little Coonfield. John was dark complected, black eyes and
black hair, Cherokee indian by
blood.
