      65. Anne Marie Barrieau, born Abt. 1728 in Prob Grande Pre Acadia; died in Memramcook NB. She was the daughter of 130. Nicolas Barrieau and 131. Ursule Gautrot.

Notes for Charles Leblanc:
Charles LeBlanc was the first settler of Boutouche. In 1787 he made a cradle which was used for 4 generations ,his daughter Clothilde used the cradle for her children as did his grand-son and his great grand-son . The cradle was used for a total of 46 children and is on display at the convent Museum in Boutouche, NB

This couple was deported to New England in 1755. They left this region in 1763 to make their way to Miquelon where they still were in 1767, but the same year they came to Windsor, NS where they stayed for a few years & from there they settled on the shore of Memramcook River where they both died. Charles LeBlanc , his wife Marie Bariot, and family, like his brothers Jacques and Francois's families were exiled to Massachusetts in 1755 and they requested to go to old France in 1763. In 1767, we meet the families of Pierre, and Jacques LeBlanc at Saint Pierre et Miquelon. Charles was the son of Francois LeBlanc and Marguerite Boudreau. Francois was the son of Jacques LeBlanc and Catherine Hebert. Jacques was the son of Daniel LeBlanc, Marie Bariot (Barrieau's) parent was Nicolas Barrieau.

There is also a 200 year old saw on display at the convent museum that was carried to Boutouche to rebuild their homes and lives

THE ORIGIN OF BOUTOUCHE

The town of Bouctouce was founded over 200 years ago on the hospitable shores of Boutouche Bay. Pointe Dixon's Point--These fingers of land, jutting out among the many rivers and streams that wind their way through the land scape,were the first to be settled in the area. Its original Micmac name, Chebooktoosk, or "great little harbour", accurately expresses the welcoming character of this tranquil setting.

François and Charlitte Leblanc arrived in the area on an exploratory mission in 1785. They were amazed at the abundance of food and ease at which the waters could be navigated. Four Acadian families joined them later that summer and, during the ensuing years, new families, from all across what is now known as southeastern New Brunswick gradually moved in.

During the 19th century the area also attracted immigrants from Ireland and Scotland, among them the forefathers of one of Bouctouche's best-known sons, K.C. Irving.

Boutouche of the past by Pierre A Cormier

On June 24 1785 Francois and Charlitte LeBlanc carved a cross in the bark of a huge pine tree to mark their taking pocession of Boutouche. The bicentennial of this event was celebrated in 1985

Other families came to the area to settle soon after the arival of the founding families. History tells us that circa 1790 Boutouche welcomed a number of new residents :Louis Girouard known as Bistet,married Osithe Pothier, Paul-Gervais Girouard married Madeleine Theriault, Joseph LeBlanc ,brother of Charles LeBlanc married Elizabeth Landry, Jean Desroches, married Esther,daughter of Pierre Bastarache and Marguerite Gaudet, Julien Collet, married Rosalie Theriault, Louis Allain married Marie Richard, Piere Allain married Henriette daughter of Paul Babin , Benjamin Allain married Isabelle LeBlanc , Jean-Baptiste Allain married Marie LeBlanc, Jean Savoie married Marie Allain, sister of the Allain men just named
Francois Richard also known as Jani, married Judith Allain, Jaillets and Collets, the descendants of these families consitutes the majority of the old Boutouche families

Mr LeBlanc remembers very well the sons of Francois the founder-Simon Pierre,and Jean as well as children of Charlitte, Simon & Clothlide,grand-mother of father Desire Allain, parish priest of Boutouche .

To corroborate this geneological information. Calixte tells us that Helene Breau (Bro) wife of Francois was so strong that she could carry a pot large enough to hold a barrel of water on her back through the woods
