Although the title of the home page is Holtorf, both my wife and I have been trying to compile information on both sides of both families. Mine are the Holtorfs that immigrated from Northern Germany in the mid 1800's first to Pomeroy Iowa Then my great grandfather Claus Henry Holtorf and His wife Katherine Speiss first moved to Minnisota Leaving His Brother Carston Clause Holtorf and his wife (sister of Katherine) Margaritha Speiss behind. Farming was poor in Minnisota and there was word of land sales in Saskatchewan, so early in 1907 they headed for greener pastures and Immigrated to Canada. On my mothers side the Simonars immigrated from Belgum to the area of Brussels Wisconsin in the mid 1800's One Son of Martin Simonar and Christine Prevost moved to the area of Richardton North Dakota where he met Eva Scharik who was born in Budapest Hungary. They also heard of the land sales in Saskatchewan but settled in an area about 250 miles from the Holtorf homestead. My wife has some information on her ancesters but is also looking for some assistance. Her maiden name is Harker. Any information about a Fothergill Harker and his wife Ann Peirson from Rosedale East, North Yorkshire who immigrated to Canada around 1886-7. They farmed in Kettleby, Ontario. The majority of the family information was gathered from other family members, death notices in the papers and dates on headstones.
