About Our Family Research
Hullinger Hollinger Holiger Harlan Liffengren Anderson Hart Lockhart Kaasa Bagn Poe Email Chullinger@gmail.com Our Hullinger family originated in the small Village of Holvil (Boniswyl), Aargau, Switzerland, located near Zurich. We have visited this community, and found relatives. Since our ancestor left Switzerland in 1736, the connection is distant. The community is very attractive, with a small castle located at the foot of a lake. A fast flowing stream forms a moat around the castle. The small community is affluent and friendly. After leaving Switzerland, our people gradually moved west, settling first in Pennsylvania, then Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, and finally homesteading in western South Dakota, south of the Capital of Pierre in Vivian. Our other family names originated in Monkwearmouth, England (Harlan), and Vik, Seljord, (Kaasa) and Bagn, Norway (Liffengren, Bagn)and North Carolina (Poe Cherokee). We have also visited these communities, and met charming relatives and visited historic buildings in our ancestral communities. Civil War background of Harlan & Lockridge (4 KB) GGG Grandfathers Lockride and Harlan were Civil War Veterans of 34th Iowa. They were GG Grandfathers of Clif Hullinger, who later served in the 34th Division World War II History of Clifford Harlan Hullinger (38 KB) Clif was a member of the 34th National Guard Division from South Dakota. They fought in North Africa at Kasserine Pass, and in Italy at Cassino and Anzio. His units had high casualties and a fine record. Clif was promoted from Private to 1st Sgt to Lieutenant GGGrandfather Lockridge & Harlan Civil War Service (1 KB) Both GGGrandfather Lockridge & Harlan served in the Civil War in 1862-63, and were discharged with disabilities Walter Anderson - World War II (3 KB) Walter Anderson died on Kwajelein in World War II.
