He was listed in the 1790 Federal Census in Orange County, North Carolina, and the 1804 tax list.
Jeremiah fought in the American Revolution. One such story about Jeremiah was that he was one of General George Washington's bodyguard and that he was captured by the British and was placed in prison until the war was over. The land in North Carolina was bounty for his services.
