Notes for Joseph Stanley:
Sources:

History of Wayne Co. IN-p. 302-article about Levi Stanley. "Our subject's grandparents, Joseph and Catherine Stanley, had 11 children--Elizabeth, Zachariah, Joseph and Jehu (twins), Sarah, Aaron, Nancy, Mary, Eunice, Beulah, and Jeremiah."

Fox-Memoirs of Wayne Co. IN, p. 494.-"The earliest known ancestor of the Stanley family was Thomas Stanley of England. His son , Joseph, was b. about 1760, the youngest in a family of 14 children. He emigrated from England to Guilford County, NC, and there met and married Catherine Hilton, born in MD, from whence she had emigrated to Guilford County, NC. To Joseph and Catherine Stanley were born 11 children of whom Aaron was the sixth. The father, Joseph, lost his life while moving with his family to Ohio, about the year 1810. He was thrown from his horse into the Adkin River and his body was never recovered. He belonged to the Friend's Society and was about 50 years old at the time of his death. His family continued their journey to their home in the west."

  Notes for Catherine Hilton:
After her husband drowned, Catherine continued on to Clermont Co. OH (around 1810) and then, in 1819, she moved to Harrison Township, Union Co. IN.

  Notes for Catherine Elizabeth Stanley:
She supposedly married John Stanley-not the John Stanley in Wayne Co. IN-1850.

Is she on mortality schedule?

Her husband, John Stanley d. 1827 Union Co. IN. (Anderson, p. 226). Did she d. there?

  Notes for Jeremiah Stanley:
According to Anderson-Stanley family-p. 229. Jeremiah died Aug 18, 1832 and his first wife Diana Esteb died Aug. 28, 1832. In that case he could not have married Betsy in 1833!

      114. Henry Cuppy, born 30 Jun 1766 in Mill Creek, Hampshire, VA (now WVA); died 21 Sep 1833 in Wayne County, Indiana. He was the son of 228. John Cuppy and 229. Margaret (?). He married 115. Sarah Malone Abt. 1792.

      115. Sarah Malone, born Unknown in ?; died Bet. 1823 - 1833 in Wayne County, Indiana ?. She was the daughter of 230. Daniel Malone and 231. Mary Drury ?.

Notes for Henry Cuppy:
Sources:

History of Wayne Co. IN-p. 302-Article on Levi Stanley. "His maternal grandparents, Henry and Sarah Cuppy, settled in Wayne county, in 1817 or 1818, where they died about 1833. They had a family of 8 children--Daniel, Mary, Rebecca, James, Thomas, John, Abraham, and Harrison."

Henry was b. in Mill Creek, Hampshire Co. VA (now WVA). By 1801 he was living in Clermont Co. OH. He d. in Wayne Co. IN 1833. According to family tradition he came with his wife's family (the Malones) to the Ohio River (along Indian River) in the 1790's. On 16 Oct 1818 he bought land along John's Creek in Wayne Co. IN and his family moved there soon thereafter. He was a private in the War of 1812 in Capt. Robert Haines' company of mounted troops from Hamilton Co. OH. The Noble Co. History says his daughter, Mary, was b. in KY 1795 so he may have lived there also.

In Clermont Co. Ohio Henry had land dealings with Samuel Druley, John and Betsey Druley, Samuel and Nancy Druley.

In 1818 he bought land in Wayne Co. IN

In the 1820 Wayne Co. IN census, Josiah Abrams, Henry Cupy, James Cupy, and Thos Cupy are listed next to each other.

I'm not sure where the information that he was buried at Boston Cemetery came from. I don't find him in Yount's Tombstones of Wayne Co.

Couldn't find in Wayne Co. 1830.

Cuppy genealogy, p. 431-most family researchers are of the opinion that Henry came to the Ohio River country with his wife's people and settled in Clermont Co. OH during the early 1790's. Henry m. Sarah Malone, the eldest daughter of Daniel Malone and Mary Druley (Drury?) Since their first child was b. in 1793, they may have married around 1791.

  Notes for Sarah Malone:
Sarah was living in Wayne Co. IN with Henry May 18, 1823 when they sold a section of land to Jacob Smelser. However no mention of Sarah was made in the settlement of her husband's estate so she may have died before 1833.

I have no documentation that her last name was Malone. In some places, Walter Shriner leaves her last name blank. She and Henry named their first son Daniel so her father may have been a Daniel Malone. On the other hand, he could have been named Daniel after Henry's brother, Daniel, who may have died in 1793.

The Malones may have lived along the Ohio River country in the 1790's.

IGI has a Sarah Malone, b. 2/6/1768 Granville, NC; daughter of Daniel Malone and Elizabeth Staples.
