The will of Robert Bigge of the parish ofbenynden, 1 July 1500. To be buried in the churchyard of the church of St. George in Benynden. To the high altars of the churches of Benynden and Bydinden 20d. each. To anges Watt and Johan Lellysden my daughters. Willia' Dey, Harry bigge, harry Asten, and John Watt, my "feiffers," to deliver to Elizabeth my daughter two pieces of land lying at benynden in the parish of Rollynden, to her and her assignes for ever. The residue of all my goods I give to Thomas Bigge and Edward my sons, whom I make my executors. Witnesses: Robert Marden, Richard Astyn, Willia' Watt, Thomas Lellysden, and others. Proved at Tenterden 15 Sept. 1500 bu tje executors named in the will. (Archdeaconry of Canterbury, vol. 8, fo. 2.)

3. Thomas Hache, of Selling, co Kent, the testator of 1530, was b. prob. abt. 1465. He held the manor of Hodyford, was assessed as "Thomas Hatche the Elder" in the hundred of Street, in the subsidy of 1524, and d. betw 12 Dec 1530 and 31 Dec 1534. The name of his wife has not been found, but six children are named in his will in 1530. One of whom was:

The will of Thomas Hache the elder of Selling beside Horton Monkyn was made Dec. 12, 1530, and proved Dec. 31, 1534. He directs that he be buried in the churchyard of Sellynge. To every godchild 6d To Thomas Hache, son of John and elioner Hache, 40s., 20s. at the age of twenty=four and 20s. at the age of twenty-five to be paid by my son John. If the said Thomas die within age without heirs then is is to be paid to his sister Agnes, and if she die within age without heirs, reversion to my son John. To my son John, my best brass pot. To my daughters Agnes, Mararete, and Alice 2s. 8d. apiece. To my son William all debts he owes me and two silver spoons and to his daughter Agnes Heche 6s. 8d. To Agnes, daughter of John Hache the elder my son, now dead, 6s. 8d. To Thomas Hache, John Hache the younger, Johane Hache, Agnes Hache, and Alice Hache, sons and daughters of John Hache, 6s. 8d. apiece. Residuary legatee and executor: son John Hache. Witnesses: Sir Robert Yong, vicar of Sellyng, William Harte, John Knyght, William Hache, and John Smythe. My last Will regarding my lands. To William Hache my son my manor of Hodyford and all those parcels of land, viz., Hodyford Broke lying in three parcels, a parcel called Horselife, one called Hodyford grove, etc. To my son John Hache my new house with the lands thereto belonging and all my other lands and tenements in Sellyng, he paying therefor to Thomas Hache, son of John Hache late of Sellyng, decased 40 marks as before specified [Archdeaconry of Canterbury, Vol. 20, fo. 4.]

Miles Stapleton, Knt. of Ingham and Bedale, was born abt 1408 (aged thirty and more in 1438). He was married for the first time to an unidentified wife. He was married for the second time to Katherine De La Pole, dau. (and in 1430 heiress) of Thomas de la Pole, Knt., of Grafton, Regis, co. Northampton, by Anne, dau. of Nicholas Cheney. She was born about 1416 (aged fourteen and more in 1430). Sir Miles Stapleton died testate on 30 Sep. or 1 Oct. 1466 and w as buried in Ingham Priory (will dated 4 Aug 1442, proved on 17 Nov. 1466). His widow was married for the second time to Richard Harcourt, Knt., of Wytham, co. Berks (died 1 Oct. 1486). She died on 13 or 14 Oct 1488, and was buried in Rowley Abbey(will dated 7 July, 5 Sep. 1488, proved 23 Jan. 1455/9).
