 Includes NotesNotes for Bernard Kann:
On the ship's passenger list David Kann listed a brother named Bernard Kann living at 5 Church Place off Grove St. Boston.

In the 1910 Census Bernard is living at 5 Church Pl. in Boston, the census page before Bernard's page includes No. Grove St. The year he entered America is listed as 1891 in the 1910 census and 1892 in the 1930 census. In 1910 his birthplace is listed as Russia, as is his parents. In 1930 his birthplace is listed as Scotland. The first entry was Russia and it was overwritten Scotland. In 1930 Bernard' parent were listed with Germany as their birthplace.

Bernard was naturalized on September 27. 1901. He listed May 1887 as the date he entered America (Boston). He would have been 14 in 1887. He also listed that he was born in Glasgow on June 1873.

Bernard's parents emigrated from Russia in 1887 based on there being no birth records in Scotland of two children born in 1883 and 1887. These children died before the 1901 census. A reason for no birth records could be that they were born in Russia or enroute to Scotland. Bernard could have made it to Scotland and then shortly went on to America.

According to the census Bernard's first two children were born in Pennsylvania. The first child born in Massachusetts was in 1900. Bernard's naturalization was completed in 1901.

Perhaps Bernard traveled with his wife's family to America. Bernard is not listed in the passenger lists for Boston in May 1887. I entered this country in New York or Philadelphia.

If Bernard did leave Scotland in 1887, that was before David was born. It is also possible that he never went to Scotland. He could have immigrated to America with his wife's family.

There was no record of Bernard remarrying in the MA Archives.

According to the Boston City Directory in 1957 he was living with Rose and Sarah at 167 Homestead, Rox.
