Notes for Gladys Chrystell Britt: !Gladys graduated from Mayfield High School and attended Murray State Teachers College. Sh e taught schools located in Graves County Kentucky which include Hickory and Sedalia. She al so was a subsitute teacher in Leitchfield and joined the staff of the Leitchfield Gazette whe re she was employed until she retired in 1978 after 20 years of service. Her achievements wi th the newspaper are exemplified by her progression from office worker to Manager of the enti re newspager, the position she held upon retirement.
Gladys was crippled with Arthritus shortly after retirement and was unable to fully enjoy he r retirement years. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in March of 1992 and made the decisio n to die at home with the Hospice Program. She fought her illness bravely until her death a t 12:30 p.m. on June 2, 1992. She was well loved by her family and friends. She was burie d in a beautiful blue house dress she had just received on Mother's day.
