James M. Brown (son of John H. Brown and Mary McPearson) was born 1830 in Muskingdum County, Ohio, and died date unknown. He married Jerusha Reed on 1855 in Illinois.
Notes for James M. Brown: James was born in 1830. His father was John H. Brown and mother was Mary McPhearson. He purchased 380 acres which he bought at 3 different times and from 3 different people. It was one of the finest stock farms in Adams County, Iowa. It was well watered by the East Noradway creek and also by a fine spring near his residence. He had a specialty of stock and had 40 head of horses and about the same number of cattle and from 75 to 100 head of hogs. He strived to continue the stock business and increase it. James marries in Illinois in 1885 to Miss Jersusha Reed a native of Indiana who moved with her parents when 1 year old to Mercer County, Illinois. Mr Brown continued to live in Mercer County until he came to Adams County, Iowa in the fall if 1879. James and Jerusha had 13 children, 7 daughters and 6 sons.
