Kendrick has been researching her genealog with Rootsweb and with family members for about 5 years, but shebecame interested in her family history about 20 years ago. The first piece of information she tried to find was her family's county of origin. Fortunately, she was able to talk about genealoy with her grandparents several years before they died. " I hand-wrote down everthing then," she said. She learned that her brach of the Creel family, with setted around Mobile County, Ala., was related to the Harrison County Creels. Both families stemmed from brothers who llived in Lauderdale and Jones Counties; however, her branch of the family was spelling its name CREAL. " My grandmother, Della Mae Wiggins-Creal, changed back to the Creel name after she found out she had spelled it wrong. "Creel was spelled wrong on the 1900 Mobile County census," Kendrick explained. She also has learned that her great-grandparents from Jackson County, who were originally Kumpakiske, changed their name to Schultz after they arrived here in 1904. In the past five years, Kendrick has become the manger of several genealogy sites for Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com. The Rootsweb lists are: AL-GRAND_BAY, CREE-AL-LA, CREEL-MS, KUMPAKISKE, PENDARVIS, PENDARVIS-GA. PENDARVIS-LA,PENDARVIS-MS PENDARVIS-SC, ROCHA and JONES-HANNON- JacksonCo-MS.
