The great-grandchildren of Joe Sokolowicz and Kate Rozmarynowski (or some spelling variation), have been researching the Socolovitch (or Sokolovitch or Succolovich or Sokolowicz or Schalawitty) family! Yes!! In our research, we have found at least 5 spellings of our family name! In the past few months, we have collected more information than we could have ever imagined - but we are far from being done. Please help us find our roots and our extended family all over the world!
Joe and Kate came to Riggsville, MI in about 1877. Legend tells us they came from the Milwaukee area in which they stayed for about 3 years, probably with family. We have found a Valentine Sokolowicz family, in which we believe is Joe's brother. We cannot find any family for Kate - at least not yet. The census records tell us that they came here from Prussia, but no one record tell us exactly which year. We also have not found any ship records for Joe or Kate, but we are hoping to explore that soon. Once we find the ship records, we hope to find a town they may have come from.
