My name is Joann (Catazaro) Labriola and my mother is Dorotha Blackmer. I researched my mother's ancestor's back to Hiram Blackmer born 1817.

Hiram is my great great grandfather. I have a death certificate for his son William that shows Hiram was born in Saratoga Springs NY.

Hiram was listed in the 1850 Pennsylvania Erie County Census and shows his birthplace as N.Y. The 1850 Pennsylvania Erie County Census also shows an Alonzo Blackmer born in NY. According to the 1790 through 1840 census index there were no Blackmer's in PA prior to 1850.

The 1820 New York census for the county of Saratoga Springs (the township of Malta) shows only one Blackmer by the name of Stephan. Since Hiram was born in 1817 there is a good chance that Stephan is Hiram's father.

My husband and I went to Saratoga Springs NY and we visited the library and the genelogy center and the only info we found on Stephan is that he sold his property in 1829 to Calvin Rounds.

The New York census from 1830 through 1850 shows no Blackmer's living in Saratoga Springs.

I'm looking for help to verify if Stephan is the father of Hiram and is Alonzo the brother of Hiram?
