1. WILLIAM1 LAKE was born Abt. 1745, and died 1826. He married MOLLIE ASBERRY April 25, 1768. She died October 1811 in Taylor County, WV.

ILLIAM LAKE:
William Lake was the brother of John and Vincent Lake who lived near Warrenton, Virginia, moving there about 1754 from St. Marys County, Maryland. William moved to Taylor County at Webster and Traps Spring, Virginia (now West Virginia) in 1799. William appears in Virginia personal tax record in 1782.             This indenture made this ___ day of _____ in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and one between Vincent Lake and Elizabeth of the County of Harrison and State of Virginia of the one part and William Lake of the County and State aforesaid of the other part.

            Witnesseth that they the said Vincent Lake and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars current money to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain sell, alien, enfeoff and confirm unto the said William Lake a certain tract or parcel of land in the County and state aforesaid, situate on Berkleys Run, a drain of Tygerts Valley River, being part of a survey of four hundred acres conveyed to said Vincent Lake by Isaac Davisson the seventeenth day of July in the year seventeen hundred and ninety seven and bounded as follows to wit:

            Beginning at a white walnut and hickory on a line of the original survey, then by said line south forty degrees west one hundred and twenty three poles to a white oak, thence along the said original line south ___ degrees east two hundred and thirty poles to a white oak, north forty three degrees east one hundred and sixty seven poles to white walnut, north five degrees west fifty poles to two white oaks, thence leaving said original lines south eighty and one fourth degrees west ninety six poles to a hickory, north forty degrees west one hundred and fifty two poles to the beginning containing two hundred acres....

            In the name of God, Amen - I, William Lake Sr. of Harrison County and State of Virginia do make, ordain and declare this instrument to be my last will and testament revoking all others. In the first place as to debts, thank God, I owe none and therefore shall give my executors but little trouble on that score. Secondly: as to such worldly estate where with it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and bequeath in the manner and form following:

            To my son William Lake I give and bequeath one dollar. Likewise, I give to Elizabeth Michael, formerly my son Vincents wife, one dollar. Also, I give and bequeath to Taylor Barton, my son in law, one dollar. Item: I give and bequeath all my plantation and all the rest of my property to be divided equally into ten shares of which I give and bequeath to my son George Lake one share and I give to my son Nimrod Lake one share also I give to my son Ila one share, Likewise I give to my son William Lake's children and wife one share and to my son Jeremiah Lake one share, also to my son Vincent's children one share and to my daughter Aggy Barton's children one share and to my daughter Susanna Norris one share, also to my daughter Mary Cross, one share, likewise to my daughter Jinny Neel, one share. Lastly I constitute and appoint my sons George Lake and Nimrod Lake executors of this my last will and testament. I witness of all and each of the things herein contained. I have set my hand and seal this 22nd day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five.
