45. GEORGE W.⁴ LAKE (ILA³, GEORGE B.², WILLIAM¹) was born 1838, and died 1920. He married MARGARET (PEGGY) LINN, daughter of HUGH LINN and POLLY REESE. She was born 1839, and died 1922.

Notes for GEORGE W. LAKE:
George and Margaret lived their entire lives on Glady Creek, near Fairmont, West Virginia. Margaret was the daughter of Hugh and Polly Reese Linn. They are both buried at the Glady Creek Cemetery of the Hebron Church.

There is an interesting conflict in information here. William is listed as a son, living at home in the 1880 census. In the Marion county birth book (see below), it reports this child as W. G. Lake, (female).

Notes for WILLIAM G. LAKE:
The only information we have on William G. Lake is from his will and from his birth notice in the Marion County, WV court records. His will is very long, but interesting. I have copied the more fascinating parts here:

Will Book 2 - Page 399

Second: My will is that the casket that I would prefer to be buried in to be of oak finish and also to be of a good quality. Style of casket to be a foulding (?) or better known as the couch casket. That the cost of all my funeral expenses must not exceed two hundred dollars...
Third: my wishes are that a monument be purchased and erected to the grave of my beloved wife Phoebe Olive, deceased. My will and my wishes are that I be buried by her side and that one monument should answer for both of our graves. And that said monument must not exceed the sum of three hundred dollars...
Fourth: That after the above wishes named in this my last will and testament have been complied with that all the remainder of all my estate both personal real estate or mixed be equally divided into two parts. That the first part to be given to my father and my mother, George W. and Margaret Lake, their heirs, assigns, executors and administrators forever.
Fifth: That part second to be given to my mother-in-law, Frances Summers, her heirs, assigns, executors and administrators forever.
Sixth: I hereby constitute and appoint Luther W. Summers the sole executor of this my last will and testament and require and now here especially request that he be not required to give bond as such executor.

In witness whereof I hereto affix my signature and seal this the 7th day of July 1910.
