Graduated from Dartmouth in 1818. Installed as minister 1st. Baptist Church, Boston, Mass., dismissed on Sept. 24, 1830. listed in the Boston, Suffolk, Mass. census in 1830. He was in Canterbury, Mass. in 1865. He was an antislavery agitator. Received his L.L.D. from Central College, New York in 1867. He was a professor and president of Central College 1849-1865. Rev. Grosvenor edited the "Christian Reflector"' an anti-slavery Baptist paper founded in 1838.(Bowen).

"OUR BRANCH OF THE GROSVENOR FAMILY WE CAN TRACE BACK TO RANDOLPH GROSVENOR WHO WAS A CONTEMPORARY WITH QUEEN ELIZABETH AND IN HIS FAMILY MY PATERNAL AND MATERNAL ANCESTRY BECAME UNITED. HIS DAUGHTER, ELIZABETH, (COUSIN OF "OLD QUEEN BESS") MARRIED THE FATHER OF EDWARD BULKLEY, D.D. WHOSE SON, THE REV. PETER BULKLEY, COLONIZED THE TOWN OF CONCORD, MASS. IN 1636." (FROM THE WRITINGS OF MOSES G. GROSVENOR, IN THE POSSESSION OF GEORGE SUMNER GROSVENOR.).                                     Moses graduated from Dartmouth in 1822, and from Andover in 1825. He served at churches in Mass., New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York.                                           Moses was listed in the 1830 census at Acworth, Sullivan, New Hampshire and in Marlborough, Cheshire, New Hampshire.                                                                         Moses served from Dec. 27, 1826 to 1828 as minister in the West Parish, first society in Essex, Mass. On October 21, 1840 Moses was the Reverand at the Congregational Church at Marlborough, Conn. after 1848 he may have served at the 1st Congregational Church at Guilford, Conn.                                                                         Moses will was probated in1879, in Miami Co. Ohio. Probate court case #065555.

ZRA GROSVENOR, JR.:
Ezra Grosvenor, Jr., born at Mansfield, Conn., April. 7, 1789; died at Natshez, Miss., Feb. 1, 1824. Was a carpenter and a joiner: also taught school. After the family moved to Bridgewater, VT., in 1806, Ezra took up land and worked it for a short time. He then removed to some place near Pittsburgh, Pa. About 1819, he began to suffer from pulmonary consumption, and in 1820 removed to Stubenville, Ohio. Later he went south for his Health to Natshez, Miss., and had engaged to teach school, when he suddenly died. A benevolent and useful man, not a member of any church, but strictly moral and temperate. Before leaving Bridgewater, about 1810, he married Lucy Green, only daughter of a Baptist minister, Rev. Asa Green. She was an excellent woman.       From the notes of Horace Chipman Grosvenor (my grandfather) about 1930's-1940's.                                                            Ezra was an ensign and in 1812 was promoted to Lieut., then later to Capt., Mr. Moore has the commission papers. Ezra served in the Vermont regiment.                                                      Ohio wills and Estates: Ezra Grosvenor......... Estate, Intestate 1824........Jefferson Co. Ohio, Common pleas journal E p.152.                        Ezra was listed in the 1820 Steubenville, Jefferson, Ohio census.

George was a cabinet maker and served his apprenticeship under Samuel Richard (the original of his apprenticeship is in my possession), until the age of 21 in Allegheny, Penn. He did not marry and died when he was almost 22 years of age.
