Descendants of John Landers

9. THOMAS3 LANDERS (ABRAHAM2, JOHN1) was born 1801 in North Carolina30. He married LUCY ?. She was born about 1805 in North Carolina31.

Notes for T
HOMAS LANDERS:
In Rutherford County, TN 1850 census as Thomas and Lucy Sanders (per Carroll Hayden) or Lunders (per Roger Rice Landers), with children Anderson S. and Robert V.

Also found as Thomas Landers in the 1840 Roberston County, TN census by Gerald McCoy.

From Carroll Hayden:

Listed 22 Aug 1827 as administrator of estate of Abraham Landers, deceased. Sold Abraham's land to Elliot Rucker. Thomas was listed in 1850 Bedford County Census as Sanders, Thos, 49, Lucy 45, Malissa J. 19, Anderson S. 18, W. A. 16, Jno. W. 14, Mary A. 11, Robert V 6, Thomas F. 5 NC NC, Ru-60468.

From Roger Rice Landers:

I believe that Thomas is (this) Abraham's son based on the sale of land in Bedford County, TN with Thomas as the executor of the estate. Thomas also did not sign his name (only his mark). Thomas Landers living in Rutherford County in 1850 was not literate. This Thomas purchased land in Rutherford County (1838) from John L. Cooper (of Bedford County - the deed record). John L. Cooper was a neighbor of the "Landers families" in the Longview area of Bedford County. I have a deed in Rutherford County for a sale from Thomas Landers dated 1842 and again he did not sign his name, only an "X". This is certainly the same family.

HOMAS LANDERS and LUCY ? are:

Notes for A
BRAHAM LANDERS:
Roger Rice Landers and Carroll Hayden read the marriage records to place Abraham's marriage to Priscilla Cooke in 1796. The transcript I have reads 1795, with George Bullock, bondsman and Stephen Sneed, witness. Signed his own name to this marriage bond.

Said to be the same Abraham Landers who signed the marriage bond of George S. Landers and Rebecca Wade in 1803.

On 30 May 1808, signed his name "Abraham Landis" while selling a slave girl to Abraham Lawrence.

Some have made the mistake of recording that this is the Abraham who married Susannah Gooch 16 Dec 1816; William Thomasson, bondsman; Stephen Sneed, witness.

Bedford County, TN Will Book 1 page 37, lists Dolly Landers as his wife with John L. Sedberry and William Pucket as witnesses. Roger Rice Landers found this reference in "Landers Landings" page 12, April 1987. "Dolly" is probably Dorothy Pucket.

Was on the tax list of Williamson Co. TN in 1819, purchased land in Bedford County TN on 9 January 1819.
