2. JOHN2 GLASS (JOHANN MATTHIAS1) was born October 10, 1772 in York, Pennsylvania, and died March 25, 1864 in West Township, Columbiana County, Ohio. He married ANNA BARBARA SHRIVER Abt. 1804, daughter of LEWIS SHRIVER and MARY SHEETS. She was born June 21, 1781 in Pennsylvania or Maryland, and died December 19, 1875.

Notes for JOHN GLASS:
John Glass and his wife Anna Shriver, migrated as pioneers to Ohio after they were married in 1804. They may have purchased 120 acres in Butler Township from Lewis Shriver in 1811 for $480. Later they obtained 161 acres near Winona, Ohio. The U.S. Patent for this land was signed on September 18, 1818 by President James Monroe (5th President of the United States 1816-1825). The deed to John Glass was recorded by Joseph Meigs, Commissioner of the General Land Office in Lisbon, Ohio on September 17, 1819.
From Mack's "History of Columbiana County", we learn that John Glass was ordered to recruit 144 men on March 8, 1809. It was called 1st Regiment, 2nd brigade, 4th Division of the Ohio Militia- Capt. Bradfield's Company. (Pg. 57)
John and Anna's family of nine children are listed in the U.S. Census taken of Ohio in 1820 & 1830.
John and his wife Anna are buried at New Alexander Cemetary, on the southwest corner of Rt. 172 and Rochester Road in West Township, Ohio.
